Ultimate Lie To Me  Fansite

Changes to Conceptual Design

Our website design has been slightly altered from our original conceptual design. The following changes were made:
  1.  Bread crumbs

A bread crumb path was not included in our navigational design as our web creator would not allow for it. In hind sight, the bread crumb path navigation was not necessary as our drop down navigation bar and hyperlinks within our site sufficiently facilitate user friendly navigation. In addition, the file path of a specific page (if desired) can be seen in the URL address box.
  2.  Anchors and Bookmarks:

Our original plan included anchors and bookmarks to facilitate navigation through our synopses pages. This turned out to be a poor design choice considering the length of the synopses for each season. We therefore opted to give each episode its own page which is easily found via the season specific middle pages.
  3. Home page structure:

The design submitted proposed a 3 column structure for the bottom portion of the homepage. In practice, this design proved to be too crowded and busy and the structure created a higher potential for banner blindness. We are happy with the 2 column alternative and believe it supports homepage usability.

Accessibility

Our website failed the NOEMBED element on the accessibility validator. This would be used as a backup source for our video clips if a browser did not support our EMBED elements. Unfortunately we were unable to alter this due to restrictions with our webcreator. We did however test our site in Internet Explorer, Mozilla FireFox, Safari, and Camino and our embedded elements worked in all four. This includes the three main browsers that our target audience uses so we are satisfied that it is infact accessible.

Advertisements

Our website is almost completely ad free with the exception of the "Create a free website with Weebly" ad in the footer which is barely noticeable.
